The Election Commission of Bhutan, in pursuance of Sections 577 and 579 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, called the Bye-Election for the post of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa of Thongsa_Tobchhenthang Chiwog of Tading Gewog under Samtse Dzongkhag vide Notification ECB/NOTIF-01/2021/4149 dated 27th of February 2021 with the Poll Day on 19th of March 2021. Accordingly, the Election processes have been initiated by the Dzongkhag Election Office.   

Nyema Singh Moktan bearing CID No. 11215000276 from Tobchhentang village and Tempa Doya bearing CID No. 11215002919 from Tabagang village have been duly nominated to contest for the aforementioned Election.

The Common Forum was held on 9th of March 2021 at two venues i.e. morning at the Gewog RNR Hall and afternoon at Ngawang Dramtoed ECCD. A total of 135 voters (Male-75, Female- 60) attended the Common Forums. Also the door to door campaign by the candidates commenced from 9:00 AM on 10th of March till 9:00 AM on 17th March 2021.

A total of 49 voters opted to vote through Postal Ballot. The Postal Ballot Packages have been dispatched to the respective voters on 8th of March 2021. The Postal Ballots will also be counted on the Poll Day i.e. 19th of March 2021.

The Election Office has issued 41 new voter cards since the onset of the election and will continue to do so even on the Poll Day to facilitate the voters. 

Five Polling Officials with three Security Officials and three Desups have been deployed on Election Duty. The officials have been thoroughly briefed by Chief Election Coordinator as well as reminded by the Dzongkhag Election Office to strictly follow the Covid -19 protocols of wearing masks, hand washing, physical distancing, use of Druk Trace App, use of hand sanitizer and frequent sanitizing of the EVM machines. 

The Chiwog has a total of 1004 registered voters (Male-501, Female-503). The Poll will take place at Gewog RNR Hall, Tading Gewog.
