The consultative meeting on youth, drugs, and substance abuse, organized by the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee (SCAC) of the National Council of Bhutan, was successfully held on 3rd March 2025 at the Dzongkhag Tshogdu Hall in Samtse. The meeting brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to address the growing concerns surrounding substance abuse among the youth.

Key discussions centered around:
✅ The rising prevalence of drug abuse and its harmful impact on youth.
✅ Challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating substance abuse.
✅ The need for stricter regulations and more robust awareness programs.
✅ Strategies to increase community involvement in addressing drug-related issues.

With participation from Gewog Gups, Sector Heads, RBP and RRCO representatives, as well as the Business Community, the meeting facilitated insightful exchanges on possible solutions. Collaborative efforts focused on early intervention, tighter monitoring, and engaging youth in preventive programs to ensure a safer, healthier future for all.

Together, we can take decisive action to protect our youth and strive for a drug-free Bhutan!
