Thousands of devotees from in and around Samtse are attending the six days' world peace prayers or the Moenlam Chenmo in the Dzongkhag which began today.

 All government offices and agencies will be closed today to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty the First King of Bhutan, Druk Gyalpo Ugyen Wangchuck on December 17, 1907.

The festival is held in Samtse and is observed for three days in the autumn season. Many different kinds of mask dances are performed during the festival. It concludes with the unfurling of the Guru Tshengye Thongdrol.
