Samtse Gewog
Samtse Gewog, located in the southwest of Samtse Dzongkhag, covers an area of 105.48 km². It is bordered by Phuntshopelri Gewog to the south, Dophuchen Gewog to the northeast, Tading Gewog to the east, Norbugang Gewog to the west, and the Indian state of West Bengal to the southwest. The gewog falls under a sub-tropical monsoon climate, experiencing hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters, with annual rainfall ranging from 1500mm to 4000mm. The soil is mostly sandy and clayey. The gewog consists of six chiwogs: Dewathang-Lingmithang, Satshamchhu-Tshongdzom, Samtshangma-Khandothang, Nyimaling-Chhirlogsa and Lamaithang-Taserpo.
Area and location.
Samtse gewog is located to the south-west of the Samtse Dzongkhag. It is bordered by Phuntshopelri gewog in the south, Dophuchen gewog in the northeast, Tading gewog in the east, Norbugang gewog in the west and Indian State of West Bengal in the southwest. It has the approximate area of 105.48 km2.
Climate
The gewog lies in sub-tropical monsoon climate zone with the large area of intact vegetation & experience hot and humid summer, cold and dry winter with annual rainfall ranges from 1500mm to 4000 mm. The monthly temperature ranges from 15 degree Celsius to 30 degree Celsius in summer.
