On May 28, 2024, Samtse Dzongkhag, in collaboration with the RENEW Community Service Center, Samtse, successfully observed Menstrual Hygiene Day under the global theme โ€œTogether for a Period-Friendly World.โ€

The event aimed to raise awareness on menstrual health and hygiene, highlighting its critical role in promoting dignity, health, and well-being among women and girls. The program was supported by UNICEF.

A total of 47 participants took part in the event, including students from Non-Formal Education (NFE) programs and representatives from the Gewog Administration.

In addition to promoting menstrual hygiene, the event also featured a sensitization session on domestic violence, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The session aimed to educate participants on the impacts of domestic and gender-based violence and to inform them about available support systems and interventions.

The Dzongkhag remains committed to fostering inclusive and safe communities through continuous awareness and empowerment initiatives.
