1. Introduction
World No Tobacco Day is observed annually on May 31 to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and to advocate for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption. In alignment with this global initiative, Samtse Higher Secondary School organized an awareness program and a cleaning campaign in Samtse Town.
2. Objectives
- To educate students and the public about the health risks of tobacco consumption.
- To promote a cleaner and healthier environment through community participation.
- To encourage youth-led action in support of tobacco-free living.
3. Activities Conducted
- Awareness program with speeches and presentations by students and staff.
- Distribution of awareness materials such as posters and flyers.
- Cleaning campaign conducted in eight key areas of Samtse Town.
4. Areas Covered
The cleaning and awareness campaigns were conducted in the following locations:
- Gurungbasti
- Dzong Area
- Sukriti
- AWP Area
- Daragoen
- Devethang
- Automobile Workshop Area
- Main Town

5. Outcome
The program witnessed active participation from over 100 students and teachers. The awareness program helped spread critical messages on the dangers of tobacco use, while the cleaning campaign promoted civic responsibility among youth. The initiative successfully highlighted the significance of World No Tobacco Day and brought together youth, educators, and the community in a unified stand against tobacco. The program concluded with a strong message of commitment toward a healthier and cleaner society.
