Every year on June 2nd, Bhutan celebrates Social Forestry Day, a day that honors the Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck.
This day is a reminder of our country’s strong commitment to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development.
It encourages everyone to plant trees and take an active role in preserving our natural surroundings.
At Samtse Higher Secondary School, the day was marked with great enthusiasm and meaningful participation. Guided by Principal, the school organized a fruit tree planting drive, where students and staff joined hands to plant saplings around the campus. This simple act symbolized our shared responsibility to build a greener future together.
The celebration also featured a beautiful flower exhibition, where students proudly displayed plants they had nurtured over the past few months. Their dedication and creativity highlighted the importance of caring for our environment.
The event at Samtse HSS was not just a tribute to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo’s legacy but also a powerful reminder of the role young people play in environmental stewardship. It was a day full of learning, teamwork, and renewed commitment to protecting our planet.
Let’s keep planting today for a greener, healthier Bhutan tomorrow.
