Million Fruit Trees Plantation – Phase 4 Launch

The 4th Phase of the De-Suung National Service: Million Fruit Trees Plantation (MFTP) was officially launched on 9th June 2025 at Yoeseltse Gewog under Samtse Dzongkhag.

The launch event was graced by Dasho Dzongdag and attended by officials from the Dzongkhag and Gewog Administrations, De-suups, the local Lama, Tshogpa, and enthusiastic farmers from Sonakhar village. To mark the occasion, 11 avocado saplings were planted at Yoeseltse Gewog.

Simultaneously, a parallel rollout program was conducted at Tendruk Central School, where dedicated teachers and students collectively planted 38 avocado seedlings, demonstrating strong community participation and ownership.

This 4th Phase subtropical plantation aims to benefit 1,224 households across 15 gewogs under Samtse Dzongkhag, contributing significantly to improving nutrition, rural income, and sustainable livelihoods. Between June and August 2025, a total of 45,383 subtropical fruit trees will be planted as part of this phase.

The program is being implemented through a collaborative effort between the De-Suung National Service, the Department of Agriculture (MoAL), and the Dzongkhag and Gewog Administrations.
