In a historic moment for Bhutanese cricket, Samtse Cricket Club (Samtse CC) clinched their first-ever Bhutan Cricket Super 50 Championship title, defeating the tournament favourites Dragon Strikers by 4 wickets in a thrilling finale played at the Capitalโ€™s cricket ground.

Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Samtse CC bowled out Dragon Strikers for 135 runs in 40.2 overs, led by tight and disciplined bowling. In response, Samtse CC chased down the target with confidence, finishing at 136/3 in 31.2 overs.

This victory marked a significant achievement for Samtse CC, who were seen as underdogs at the start of the tournament. The championship, which began on March 22, featured 9 competitive teams from across the country, split into two pools.

To celebrate this historic win, the Samtse Dzongkhag Sports Committee (SSC) awarded khadar and certificates to the winning team as a gesture of appreciation and encouragement.

Congratulations to Samtse CC for bringing pride to Samtse and inspiring future generations of cricketers!
