Sawan is regarded as the holiest month in the Hindu tradition, dedicated especially to the worship of Lord Shiva. During this time, devotees engage in various religious observances, fasting, and offering prayers, seeking blessings for health, prosperity, and spiritual well-being.

The Sewan Puja, organized annually by the Hindu community in Samtse, is a significant religious event that brings together devotees to collectively pray for the peace, happiness, and prosperity of His Majesty The King, the country, and the people. The rituals involve the chanting of sacred mantras, offering of flowers, fruits, and water (jal abhishek) to Lord Shiva, and lighting of butter lamps.

Adding to the spiritual grace of the occasion, representatives from the Samtse Dratshang (monastic body) and the Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) joined the gathering. Their presence symbolizes the harmony and unity among different communities and institutions in the dzongkhag. Sector heads and regional heads from various government agencies also attended the ceremony, demonstrating their solidarity and support for the diverse cultural and spiritual practices cherished by the people of Samtse.

The event concluded with a collective prayer for the continued peace and prosperity of the nation under the benevolent leadership of His Majesty The King, followed by the distribution of prasad (blessed offerings) to all the devotees present. Such celebrations not only strengthen the spiritual fabric of the community but also foster a deep sense of unity and shared national values among the people
