The Samtse Dzongkhag Administration, in collaboration with the Bhutan-India Friendship Project (PTA), successfully inaugurated the Chuchungsa-Chhoedaling Chainlink Fencing Project on 25th July 2025 in Sang-Ngag-Chholing gewog. This significant initiative aims to enhance agricultural productivity and ensure the safety of farmland in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dasho Dzongda, Shri G. Ajith Kumar, Consul General of India, and Dasho Dzongrab. The event was also attended by Dzongkhag officials, the Gup of Sang-Ngag-Chholing, and local community members.
The project covers a command area of 60.5 acres and includes 2.9 kilometers of chainlink fencing. It directly benefits 29 households in the Chuchungsa-Chhoedaling area, many of whom have cultivated their land for generations. The fencing provides much-needed protection against wild animals, stray cattle, and other threats that have long affected the community’s agricultural productivity.
Funded under the Bhutan-India Friendship Project (PTA), the initiative stands as a testament to the strong and enduring partnership between Bhutan and India, reflecting a shared commitment to rural development and sustainable agriculture.
With the completion of the fencing, beneficiaries are hopeful for a significant reduction in human-wildlife conflict and anticipate improved crop yields and agricultural productivity.
