The Samtse Dzongkhag Administration, in collaboration with the Bhutan-India Friendship Project (PTA), successfully inaugurated the Nyimaling-Chhirlogsa Chainlink Fencing Project on 5th September 2025 in Samtse Gewog. This important initiative is designed to enhance agricultural productivity and safeguard farmland in the region.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by His Excellency Lyonpo D. N. Dhungyel, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Royal Government of Bhutan., a representative from the Consul General of India from Phuntsholing, and the Dasho Dzongdag. The event was also attended by Dzongkhag officials, the Gup of Samtse, and local community members.
The project covers a command area of 34.60 acres and includes 2.7 kilometers of chainlink fencing, directly benefiting 23 households in the Nyimaling-Chhirlogsa area. Many of these households have cultivated their land for generations, and the new fencing will provide crucial protection against wild animals and other threats that have long undermined agricultural productivity.
Funded under the Bhutan-India Friendship Project (PTA), this initiative stands as a testament to the strong and enduring partnership between Bhutan and India, reflecting their shared commitment to rural development and sustainable agriculture.
With the completion of the fencing, beneficiaries are hopeful for a significant reduction in human-wildlife conflict, alongside improved crop yields and overall agricultural output.
